Persuasive Writing: Why homework should be banned

Last week room 4 started persuasive writing by brainstorming a plan about the statement why homework should be banned. We used the whiteboard for the main ideas, then copied them in to our books to later use in a Google Doc.
Next we did the title, the introduction and 3 to 5 paragraphs of content and then a conclusion. We needed to stay on track with our point of view, which some people found a little tricky because we had too many ideas. Some found it difficult to come up with ideas and others with linking their ideas. One of the most challenging things was finding relevant information and factual information.
A couple of other students shared their completed pieces of writing at syndicate assembly.
Our teacher then gave us some different persuasive writing options to choose from. The three options were:

  • Why all plastic bags should be banned from all stores.
  • Exercise everyday is good for our well-being.
  • It is important to understand how food gets to our table.
You can read examples of these options of persuasive writing on our personal blogs. Please check them out.
